Sauce McKinley provides his debut project Sound Waves with Smoke DZA assist
The New York artist, producer, and engineer comes through with his first impression with a majority of the production handled by Sauce McKinley himself. A classic hint of Boom-Bap 1990’s style drums mixed with some tricked out synth pads make this a good record to smoke to. Delivery was pretty decent for his first effort and Sauce really keeps things interesting with the flow switch up.
A feature from Smoke DZA co-sign’s this mixtape with the track Hi
About 90% of Sound Waves is downtempo, so if you are not into half-time beats this will not be for you. Sauce McKinley spits wordplay verses similar to that of Freddie Gibbs and Curren$y utilizing the filters and effects on his vocals to fill in the spaces. The casual Hip Hop fan will probably not appreciate the musicality behind Sound Waves, but it’s a must-listen to the fan of downtempo and introvert music.
